Something in the Air was a popular night time soap that ran in prime time on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for three years from 1999-2002. The show centred on the lives of the people of a small fictional rural Victorian township of Emu Springs. Much of the filming took place in the historic gold mining township of Clunes. Among the central characters was Helen Virtue (Ulli Birve) who was the manager of the local radio station 3ES. Helen has a series of twists and turns to her romantic fortunes throughout the series culminating in the appearance of Dave Gorman (Jeremy Callaghan) who sweeps her off her feet and dazzles her with his smile. He wins her heart and marries her in the final episode of the 320 episode series.
Put Secret Mens Business on your Bucket List of films to see before you die. An excellent telemovie that centres on the reunion of five former high school mates who travel to a North Coast New South Wales town to attend the funeral and subsequent wake of a former teacher and important mentor. At the reunion the guys are now in their early 30's and are confronted by their differences, infidelity, issues of trust, loyalty, and ultimately confronting a deep seeded ghost from their past. Jeremy (again the straight guy) forces his mates to confront their morality and their falsehoods. Buy it if you can, or hire it from Bigpond Movies.
Halifax f.p. was a drama, suspense series released over several short seasons during the late 1990's and early 2000's. Filmed in Melbourne and featuring a who's-who of Australian acting talent, the show centres on Dr Jane Halifax (Forensic Psychologist) brilliantly played by the gorgeous Rebecca Gibney. In episode "Scorpion's Kiss" Jeremy plays the cheeky and highly charming Alex, Halifax's latest beau. Alex is a medical student who is trying for a place at the World Rowing Championships in Lucerne. Jeremy turns on his charm in spades and looks good in this episode in everything from a tuxedo down to his under clothes.
| MDA (Medical Defence Australia) was a very high quality production filmed in Melbourne by the ABC. It centred on the legal firm who represent the medical profession in cases of litigation claims for mal-practice. A psychiatrist has come to MDA stating that she has been approached by police to bug her sessions with a client who they suspect of murder. The client is Jeremy as Justin Harris and conflict is assured when a representative from MDA 'Amanda' has to inform her former collegue and friend 'Caitlin' that her new boyfriend is a suspected killer. | The Great Raid was Jeremy's last major feature film filmed in Australia. The Great Raid tells a story based on real events of a US Ranger Battalion's campaign to liberate US prisoners of war from a Japanese POW camp in the Philipines during January 1945. In this film Jeremy plays LT Able, a gallant and dedicated officer who is sent forward with a small party to recon and gather intelligence on the camp prior to the attack. |

Wildside was one of the most awarded television shows of its time in Australia. It was a gritty and grainy police drama with cops who did what it took to get arrests. During its three season run on the ABC it featured many of Australia's leading actors as guests. In the third series Jeremy plays "Vito Ballioni" a taxi driver who is suspected of murdering a former girlfriend. While Vito is innocent of murder, he also harbours a dark side with a history of violent predatory stalking. The target of his latest affections and obsession is his beautiful former lawyer Maxine. On the surface Vito is good looking and charming, the kind of guy that any parent wants their daughter to bring home. As the plot unfolds it becomes apparent that the guy (Vito) is unbalanced.

Beast Master 2002
Who said that Jeremy couldn't play a bad guy role? In Beastmaster Jeremy is the ultimate bad guy. None other than Balcifer the Prince of Darkness himself. Balcifer has made a deal with an earthly ruler (The evil King Zad) to destroy the Beastmaster and all good in the world. This three season series was a classic tale about the battle between the forces of good and evil. Filmed in Queensland (Australia) the series was a collaboration between Australian and Canadian production houses and sold well throughout the world.

Jeremy Callaghan in MDA - 2003 Playing a seductive, cool, and romantic lead.
Jeremy has played a variety of roles from heroes to villains with earlier roles often seeing him cast as the nice guy based very much on his boy-next-door looks. Many actors excell when potraying darker characters and Jeremy is certainly no exception. His better film and TV roles have often been with him in grittier roles or when portraying manacing or evil villains. Conversely, his roles in MDA and Halifax f.p. when playing the romantic or flirtatious love interest were also excellent.

Southern Cross 2001
In Southern Cross Jeremy returned to his old home state of Western Australia to make this film about two refugee children who are orphaned and escape from their illegal arrival detention centre. Jeremy plays 'Reilley' a Federal bounty hunter who specialises in tracking and capturing escapees. Although an aboriginal tracker describes Reilley and the police as "not being able to find their bums in their undies" as the kids run Reilley and the authorities around and public sympathy and support for the children mounts. The film was made in the shadow of the events of 11 September 2001, the Australian Government's exploitation of the Tampa refugees, and considerable debate among the public of Australia about the handling of refugees.

Above: Jeremy had noticably lost weight in Southern Cross. We'd estimate between 12-15kg (25-34lb).
Above: Jeremy as Dave Gormon a horse trainer in Something in the Air. In this series we get to see Jeremy rode horses and even don a suit of armour in one scene as he dresses up as a Prince Charming in a ham-fisted romantic gesture tp try to win his girls heart. Jeremy plays at what he does best as a romantic and charming down to earth guy. We get to see Jeremy do a few scenes with an old Police Rescue cast mate Franky J. Holden.
